Burton Albion scored 4 times in 16 first half minutes as they cruised to an emphatic 6-1 victory against Aldershot in the Shots’ 1,000th competitive game.

Burton took the lead on the half an hour mark from the penalty spot following a handball by Chris Blackburn. Greg Pearson fired home from 12 yards to give the Brewers the lead.

The lead was doubled 8 minutes later as Greg Pearson broke through the Shots defence to grab his second of the game.

The game was settled on 42 minutes following a slip from Charles which allowed Pearson to break free, but his shot was saved by Ruiz and then bounced in off Kabba.

Burton rubbed salt into the wounds in 1st half stoppage time as Pearson tapped home after James’ header.

4-0 at half time and game over.

Aldershot rallied early in the second half, with Donnelly missing a chance early on.

The Shots got a goal back on 66 minutes when John Grant headed home for his first goal of the season.

A second goal by Kabba ended any lingering hopes of an Aldershot revival, before the Shots were reduced to ten men after Charles was sent off.

With five minutes left Burton got their 6th as a ball into the box was converted home by Shaun Harrad.
