Coventry City vs Aldershot Town

Carling Cup, First Round

13th August 2008

Aldershot’s return to the Football League see’s them playing League Cup Football, and they could not have been rewarded with a better tie at this stage of the competition.

Coca-Cola Championship side Coventry City play the hosts on Tuesday night, a game which players, staff and fans will be looking forward to immensely.

Chris Coleman is likely to field a strong side, and fans will be hoping to catch a glimpse of new signings Clinton Morrison, Freddie Eastwood, Aron Gunnarsson and Keiren Westwood.

Gary Waddock will also be fielding a strong starting XI, and Shots fans are relishing the prosepct of seeing new boys Ben Starosta, record signing Marvin Morgan, whom we signed from bitter rivals Woking during the Summer, and the return of Scott Davies, who we have secured the services of for another season on loan from Championship boys Reading.

It really is a David vs Goliath tie, and The Shots will be hoping to cause a Giant Killing.

Coventry City: Ones to watch;

Clinton Morrison :

The latest addition to The Sky Blues squad and by far one of the deadliest. Morrison has pace, skill, and a lethal shot. Nikki Bull will be facing a real test here.

Julian Gray:

Julian`s been at Coventry for over a year now and has really adapted to their style of play. He has bags of pace and has a very accurate pass. He links up very well with the strikers, so watch out for Gray-Morrison link-up play. Gray’s playmaking abilities will cause huge amounts of trouble for the Aldershot back line.

The game kicks off at 19:45 at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena.

Ticket prices are £12 for adults, and just £6 for concessions.

    Good luck Shots. Sure you will be OK this season. Top half?

    Top Half is what we’ll be aiming, but there is no reason why we shouldn’t be hoping for a Playoff spot.
