Speaking to following Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Brentford, Gary Waddock seemed happy with the progress being made by the players.

He said “I was very pleased with the afternoon’s work. We kept a clean sheet and created opportunities which we didn’t take. Overall though we were solid and that is so important. We conceded so many goals last season and we know that it is an area that we need to address. When the ball did come into the box we dealt with it well.

“The fitness strategy has been well highlighted and we want to make sure that the players are prepared on the training ground and we worked them hard last week. That was evident against Farnborough but the lads had fresher legs in the Brentford match.

“The trial lads all did well and they will be back in on Monday morning and it was encouraging to see Anthony Charles playing part of the game too. Overall today this was a step in the right direction and it has been a positive afternoon.”
