Aldershot Town’s supporters’ trust have advocated a community ownership model for the club to take us forward.

Speaking to the Official Site chairman Terry Owens explained.

‘We need to find out whether the Aldershot supporters and the community have the stomach for it. We have launched a survey to find out what the appetite is. If sufficient funds are not pledged we may seek board representation from any new owner.’

Owens points to the success of similar models such as Exeter for the stability it can bring to a club, and he said he believes it would be very beneficial for Aldershot to move down that route.

Whilst Owens admits that a community model doesn’t guarantee success on the pitch, the advantages of that stability off the pitch allow a club the time and the foundation to improve in all areas.
