Aldershot Town kept another clean sheet to put their name in the hat for the 3rd round of this season’s FA Cup. John Welsh went close for the home side in the first half, but they will have to replay in 10 days time.

Loanee Marlon Jackson went straight into the starting line up after joining from Bristol City on Wednesday, Bozanic was on the bench and Kirk Hudson didn’t travel after picking up an injury in training.

Tranmere Rovers named an un-changed line up from the one that beat Southend in the week.

Aldershot made a bright start to the match and Tranmere ‘keeper Luke Daniels had to be alert to stop Morgan early on.

Tranmere came incredibley close to opening the scoring after 20 minutes, when John Welsh fired a shot from 25 yards out. It beat Ruiz, before hitting the inside of the post and then hit the other post before bouncing out.

Apart from that, Aldershot had a reasonabley comfortable first 45 minutes and the scores were level at the break.

Tranmere put Aldershot under pressure in the second half, winning a succession of corners. Goodison and Welsh both had chances to break the deadlock as Rovers started to look like the most likely to make something happen.

Ruiz produced a smart save to deny Gornell just past the hour mark.

The match was very much in the balance going into the closing stages as Aldershot began to put the home side under pressure.

Louis Soares tested Daniels from 18 yards and Gareth Edds did the same at the other end as both sides pushed for the all important goal.

The breakthrough never came for either side and the tie will be replayed in ten days time at the Recreation Ground.

The draw for the 3rd round will take place tomorrow, look out for ball 48.
