Midfielder Craig Stanley joined Aldershot last summer and promptly broke his leg in pre season.

After eight months out injured, he finally made his debut for us in the draw against Port Vale and he’s talked about the last year with the BBC.

‘It’s been hard, it’s the most disappointing season of my career. The last three months I’ve been training and doing extra fitness work. I honestly didn’t think I’d play this season.’

With a lack of reserve games at the club, he has found it hard to come by competitive game action to build up his sharpness and he adds he fully understands why he hasn’t got pitch time so far in the first team, because other players are just fitter and able to do a job he couldn’t do at the point.

Andy Scott has said following his debut that he was pleased with how Stanley responded and he thought he put a good shift in.
