Shrewsbury Town boss Paul Simpson is reported to be keeping tabs on Aldershot transfer target Jake Robinson, according to Get Hampshire.

Gary Waddock has very limited funds to work with and has admitted that he can’t compete with a club like Shrewsbury on a financial level. When talking to Get Hampshire about Shrewsbury being in touch with Robinson’s agent, Waddock said “As have I, and what we can give him is nowhere near what he has been offered elsewhere.”

Funds remain limited, despite a cash injection from the Player Transfer Fund set up by supporters. The Aldershot boss also said “I would like to gather a similar-sized squad to last season, when we had 21 players. But, to be honest, I think we may do well to have as many as 20 players,”

Robinson has had two loan spells at The Rec, scoring 4 goals in 8 appearances in his first spell in 2004/05 and netted 4 times in 19 appearances during his loan spell last season.

There are currently three strikers in the squad, and I’m sure Waddock will want to add to that sooner rather than later.
