After being away for the past 10 days, here is an update on Aldershot’s season so far.

After being knocked out of the Carling Cup by Bristol Rovers it was back to league matters as Aldershot travelled north to take on Rochdale at Spotland. It was a tight game, and Dale were reduced to ten men, but the home side won the match courtesy of a 94th minute penalty.

Three days later, it was on the road again for The Shots as they travelled to Dean Court to take on AFC Bournemouth. A third straight defeat was confirmed in the 48th minute as Jason Pearce won the match for the Cherries.

Back at the Rec on Saturday as Accrington Stanley travelled south. The occasion was over-shadowed by the tragic news that Aldershot chairman John McGinty had lost his battle with cancer just hours before the match, a minute silence was observed before kick off. On the field, Aldershot got back to winning ways with two goals from Scott Donnelly and a Marvin Morgan strike gave The Shots a 3-1 win. Manager Gary Waddock later dedicated the result to John McGinty.

Next up is another trip north to Blundell Park to take on Grimsby Town.
