Andy Scott has said his heart goes out to the fans, because he knows the hard work everybody put into making Aldershot a Football League team, and we threw that away this season.

Speaking to the Official Site after our 24th place finish, the interim manager said.

‘I know the feeling, passion and drive that has happened behind the scenes to get the club into the football League and I feel for all those people that are now affected by that. The players have to take responsibility and people who have been involved throughout the season and even last season have got to do so too. This hasn’t happened overnight, it’s a long term thing that has been eating away, and we haven’t been able to turn it around.’

Scott says the mentality of the players at the club has not been right and ultimately we have been found out this season and paid the ultimate price for it. However, as this dream ends, he believes another one begins and now our focus shifts to gaining promotion next season and putting as many wrongs right that we can, not only for the club, but also the fans.

And the best way for that to happen is for everybody to accept the mistakes that have been made, and pull together and put them right so we start afresh.

Scott says the players will be expected to come in to the club regularly during the off season, because come the start of ‘pre season’ training he wants them all to be in a physical condition where they can instantly begin working on pure match fitness, and all the technical work he will be expecting them to master before the season proper begins.
