The 2-0 defeat to Southend leaves Aldershot precariously placed and 4 points adrift of safety as we head into the remaining games of the season, but Andy Scott isn’t giving up yet.

Speaking to the Official Site Scott explained.

‘It’s not over yet if we have that level of performance and that level of commitment. The boys kept going, they’ve given me everything. We just need something to bounce for us and put the ball in the net.’

Ben Herd was a little less optimistic as he saw the defeat as a pointer to why we’ve had such a bad season in the first place.

‘It’s not just tonight. We’re down there for a reason. Collectively, we haven’t been good enough this season, that’s the harsh reality of football. We’re staring down the barrell but whilst there is hope we still keep going. I’d like to apologise to the fans because they’ve been superb and we’ve let them down.’

Both Scott and Herd were also critical of the performance of the referee in the game, saying the decisions for both goals were ‘poor’. And it certainly wasn’t a penalty.
