Aldershot Town make the relativley short trip to 4th placed Dagenham and Redbridge as the Shots turn their attention back to League Two after Saturday’s FA Cup stalemate.

The Daggers had a day off after being beat by Huddersfield in the 1st round of the FA Cup, so the high-flyers will come into this game fresher than their opponents.

Dagenham are likely to have ex-Shot Adam Miller in their side, who is on loan at Victoria Road from Gillingham. Scott Doe returns from suspension but Wesley Thomas will be suspended after being sent off against Rochdale 10 days ago.

As for the Shots, Dean Howell has returned to training but is not ready to make a return to the side. Kirk Hudson will be out after picking up an injury in training and Adam Hinshelwood will have to pass a fitness test ahead of the game on Tuesday.

These two sides have been regular opponents in the last 10 years or so as both clubs climbed up the football pyramid into the Football League. Dagenham have the edge, with 7 wins to Aldershot’s 5 – only one meeting has ended in a draw. Last season Dagenham did a double over the Shots, as well as ending their long unbeaten home record in December 2008. The last time Aldershot beat the Daggers was in 2006 when goals from Barnard, Williams and Holloway gave Terry Brown’s side a 3-1 win.

Both sides have made good starts to the season. After missing out on the play offs on the last day of last season, Dagenham have been up the top end of the table all season and currently occupy 4th place. Aldershot are 8th, just one point away from a play off place.

Kevin Dillon got his first win as Shots manager seven days ago and a second win would be priceless in Aldershot’s hunt for a play off spot.
