Aldershot Town produced a fantastic second half performance to claim an emphatic victory over Dagenham to move up into the play off places.

Kevin Dillon named an unchanged side from the one that held Tranmere to a draw last week and Dagenham had two ex-Shots players, Adam Miller and Will Antwi, in their starting line up.

After making a good start to the game Aldershot took the lead after half an hour after some hesitation in the Daggers’ defence allowed Anthony Charles to head over Tony Roberts.

The lead lasted just under 10 minutes, as the home side were awarded a penalty following a handball by Charles, Mark Arber made no mistake from 12 yards and the scores were level at the break.

Aldershot re-took the lead 6 minutes into the second half Donnelly’s corner was delieverd to Sandell on the edge of the box, who drilled a first time volley low into the bottom corner.

Dagenham responded though, just 60 seconds later, as Nana Ofori-Twumasi struck from the edge of the box.

Within 10 minutes, Aldershot were back in front. Some excellent play from Marlon Jackson was followed by a ball into Morgan who turned a shot low into the net from 6 yards, to claim his 9th goal of the season.

Daylight was put between the two sides with 12 minutes remaining. A fantastic run and shot by Jackson was saved by Roberts, but the Bristol City loanee managed to scramble home the rebound.

The game was wrapped up in stoppage time, as Louis Soares broke down the left before firing home.

Aldershot scored 5 goals away from home for the first time in the league since 2006 and claimed a second successive league win. Another performance like this against Chesterfield next week will put Dillon’s side right in the mix heading into the new year.
