Goals from Ian Thomas-Moore and Terry Gornell gave Tranmere Rovers a deserved win and a place in the third round, where they will face Premier League Wolves.

Aldershot looked nervous throughout the first half, as both sides struggled to create any real chances.

The visitors took the lead just three minutes before half time. Thomas-Moore hit a volley which appeared to deflect off Charles and past Ruiz at his near post.

Tranmere put one foot in round 3 early in the second half. The Whites broke forward and Gornell struck from an acute angle as Ruiz was beaten at his near post again.

Bozanic came off the bench and went close to getting Aldershot back in the game, but his effort crept wide.

Aldershot did get a goal back deep in stoppage time when Bozanic scored from close range, but it was too little too late.
