A late Louie Soares goal gave Aldershot a point against league leaders Rochdale as the Shots finally got 2010 underway.

Aldershot made a slow start to the game and looked like a side who hadn’t played in nearly a month. Rochdale were always dangerous and it was clear to see why they are top of the division. They passed the ball well with Chris Dagnell a constant threat up front.

The game was goalless at the break and Shots manager made a double substitution, as Chalmers and Straker made way for Morgan and Harding.

Aldershot came into the game a bit more in the second half, with Donnelly and Soares both having efforts well saved by the Dale keeper. John Grant also went close, but his effort was well saved.

Slightly against the run of play, Rochdale took a 74th minute lead when Chris Dagnall chipped over Ruiz from 18 yards.

Rochdale looked set to leave the Rec with all 3 points, but with 3 minutes of normal time remaining, Louie Soares reacted quickest following a goalmouth scramble to poke the ball home to rescue a point for the Shots.
